What Lies In Shadow...

February. A month of crisp, cool air for most places. And a month where love may be in the air...or maybe it is just on the shelves filled with chocolates, flowers, and teddy bears.

Well, if you are like me, you will forget these conventional or "commercial" ideas for spreading love and spread it in a whole new way by picking up the new release by this week's featured author, Tina Wainscott. Her new novel What Lies in Shadow was released on 2/5. This suspense/thriller includes a secret identity, a tempting liaison, and a dangerous obsession tying in the world of online communities, a cheating husband, and a psychotic new person in the life of Jonna, the novel's protagonist.

Check this tempting and page turning novel out..and read more about it at Wainscott’s official website.

Also, peruse this author's Between Your Sheets profile to know more about the life of this author.

And dear readers, please post comments about this author, her new release, or any of her past releases because you just may be lucky enough to win a signed copy of her last release, Until the Day You Die. That would be a nice one to add to your collection, if you enjoy interesting twists of suspense and chilling plots, as this author loves to give her readers a true, good scare.

Also, for those interested in knowing even more about the life of Wainscott, her motives for writing this steamy bone-chiller, why she became a writer in the first place, and many more interesting facts, check out the BYS interview to feel like you are getting to know this author on a more personal level.
And even better is a BYS chat with Wainscott that will be taking place on the BYS website on Tuesday, February 12, 2008. The times will be 9:00 PM EDT, 8:00 PM CDT, 7:00 PM MDT, 6:00 PM PDT. Not only will you get to ask the author yourself any questions you've seen unanswered, but you also get to pick her brain to maybe hear some of the great ideas she is concocting for other stories, etc.

Until next time, keep those pages turning, and even with all the thrills and chills, enjoy the warmth of being Between Your Sheets.

So..thanks for showing interest so far, Jleigh and Rae!

I actually had Tina share some information with me, and I just can't keep it to myself, now can I? So, here it is..her exact words...from our clever author, Tina Wainscott:

Infidelity. It's a provocative subject, and admittedly, when I got the idea for WHAT LIES IN SHADOW, I wondered, "What will people think of a heroine who is considering cheating?" Of course, she has good reason, since her sexy, young husband is a workaholic who is probably cheating on her. Then there's peer pressure. Jonna has a blog under the name Montene, and she shares her angst, desires, and fears with the hundreds of women and men who visit her blog.

This blog, you see, got a bit out of hand. Once the Boston Globe picked up on the racy "conversations" and that Montene likely lived in Boston, it became bigger than Jonna was comfortable with. Then her blog friends insisted she have an affair to boost her bruised self-esteem, and there was the sexy-but-sensitive Dominic who always knew just what to "say."

Jonna gets new information about her husband that gives her the impetus to meet Dominic, just to dip her toe in the waters of infidelity. Almost….and then she changes her mind. She needs to give her marriage one last try. That's when everything begins to twist and turn. Dominic shows up at her workplace, and the terror and questions begin. How did Dominic find out who she really is? Is her husband cheating or is he up to something else? And who can she trust?

When my husband saw the books on infidelity sitting on the kitchen counter, he raised an eyebrow and said, "Is there something we should be talking about?" Coyly, I said, "Book research. Be glad I have to actually research this stuff."

What do you think about infidelity? Is there a time when a man or woman is justified in cheating? What about a heroine in a book considering cheating?

I found many interesting stories in Sexual Detours: The Startling Truth Behind Love, Lust, and Infidelity by Dr. Holly Hein. If you have any curiosity or interest in the subject of why women cheat, read this book!

Hi, Marla,

Thanks for sharing that! I've been having a bit of trouble getting on here today so hopefully this will go through!

Cheers!

Hi Marla & Tina, thanks for sharing the information about Tina's new release. I am a fan of Tina's, and she defiantly delivers a fantastic & thrilling read. I think there are many reasons why people cheat, mostly it is not to do with their partner or the new partner the decided to cheat with. I think it has to more with ones self and only the self truly knows. I will be sure to show up for Tina's chat @ BYS on Tuesday!

I've not read a book by Tina Wainscott but it was an interesting interview and the new book looks like a good one.

Hi, Elayne! Thanks for being a fan :) You're right about why people cheat. It is about the person who's cheating. They lack something. A lot of times they have expected their partner to complete them or make them happy, which no one can. It all must come from within. The great thing and flipside is that we can make ourselves happy! We don't need anyone else to do that, and happy people draw other happy people into their loves.

My heroine has a few lessons to learn about herself through the book, and it was fun watching her grow.

Hi, Maureen! Thanks for coming by! I do try to write interesting books, a little different than what's out there.

Another aspect to the story is the blogging. She has shared her very personal fears and dreams on her blog and created a community. When things start to both fall apart and get better with her husband, she begins to post less. Her blog friends (she begins to call them her blog FIENDS!) get angry because she's not sharing anymore.

What do you all think about a blogger's responsibility to keep blogging? Any opinions on that?

Cheers,
Tina

Oooh - What Lies in Shadow looks like an amazing book. I always like to read things that are considered controversial & a cheating heroine (or one who thinks about it) is usually considered that. I'm going through a divorce right now & cheating definitely played a factor. I did the cheating (though he doesn't know) but I also believe he did some as well (the proof was there for a long time but I didn't see it until it was too late). So, usually the cheating only occurs on the side of the "bad" person in a book, so I'm relieved to see that someone is showing that even a heroine might sometimes think about it.

I'm very much looking forward to picking this book up as soon as possible as I'm a huge suspense/thriller reader (as well as just about any other kind of reader - LOL).

Thanks for this new blog, Marla, & thanks, Tina, for being the first guest. Great first blog day!

Hi, Stacia!

Glad to read your comments! The truth is, a lot of people do cheat. I thought portraying a woman who is struggling with temptation versus doing the right thing would be fun. And realistic.

A great book to read on infidelity is Sexual Detours: The Startling Truth Behind Love, Lust, and Infidelity by Dr. Holly Hein. It portrays women who cheat in an unbiased light. She includes lots of personal stories. Thanks for getting my book :)

To everyone: As Marla mentioned in the intro, I'm going to choose a winner at random from all blog participants to get a signed copy of my last book, Until the Day You Die...also featuring a morally ambiguous heroine. She lies on the witness stand to put away the man responsible for her sister's death--that's only the beginning of her trouble!

Any more thoughts on infidelity anyone?

Cheers,
Tina

H Tina,

Infidelity is something I know about, my ex cheated but it was for the better in the end.

I'm alittle new to reading blogging but enjoy it and if the person has something to share then blog, but if not, it's ok too.

Cheating to me...is a sticky subject. But, only if you allow yourself to get stuck. I've been a victim of it, and I know it causes much pain..but in some way you let that pain become a friend, and in learning to deal, you start to believe that maybe it happens for a reason, as perhaps you were never meant to be with that person...

..as for blogging..let the world know what you want them to know only, because you release a chain of communication with everything you post..

By the ways, great comments, guys! :)

Marla,

You are so right about offering your info on the web, it's open to eveyone.

Tina,

I enjoyed chatting with you tonight on BYS.

Hi, all!

Yes, Dina, didn't we have fun last night?! We had a BYS chat and boy was it lively!

Cheating is a sticky subject, but you're so right, Marla Mae. Like that old Chicago song, "If she would have been faithful, I would have never met you." (or something to that effect) Everything that happens to us, I believe, we draw to ourselves. Either we are sending out those kinds of vibrations (victimhood, for instance) or it is a lesson we are to learn.

And blogging...I admire those people who can think of witty things to say almost every day. My creativity needs to go to my writing, but I do enjoy conversing and posting weekly. This is fun, too!

So, if someone blogs regularly, and then doesn't (or stops sharing the kind of information they were), are they not living up to an unspoken agreement? In my book, Jonna's "blog fiends" as she comes to call them get angry because she stops sharing her personal information when things heat up with her husband.

Cheers!
Tina

Hi Tina,

Saw your bulletin on myspace and thought I'd stop by.

I gave your first line contest a plug on my blog last week - I hope you got some extra traffic because of it.

Best of luck with the new release!

Trying to rss to the blog but not having any luck. I will try again. This will be my first time for becoming a Tina Wainscott reader. Her books sound intriguing. And I liked reading about her beliefs. Good one's to have. Now off to check out Tina's yahoo group. Thanks for the giveaway.

As for blogs I love to read them but have trouble keeping up with mine. But I don't really have regular readers so not sure that it matters. I just write when something interests me.

Anonymous said...

Hey, Dina,

I'm glad you entered the contest! That's what's fun about it, anyone can enter and play at being a writer. After all, readers know what lines grab 'em. :)

Hey, Josephine, thanks for the plug! I've gotten good response, so it helped! Sorry we won't see you at the next meeting, but hopefully the next!

Hi, Bev! I don't know anything about RSS stuff so can't help you there. Thanks for trying out my books and the Yahoo Groups! Be sure to read the last bulletin to enter the contest for the signed hardcover.

I will pick the winner of the book from this blog at random. I'm going to give it all day today. Tomorrow (Sat) I've got back-to-back booksignings, so I'll try to get back and announce or I'll do it on Sunday for sure.

Cheers!
Tina
