Insatiable Desire

Happy September everyone! I hope you are all in the mood for something a little more dark and twisted, as this week's featured author, Rita Herron, brings us a new release dealing with psychics, serial killers, and dark desires. Clarissa King is a psychic who is terrified of all the bad that can happen to her hometown as images of murder appear to her while she works alongside a sexy FBI agent trying to track down a serial killer. A dangerous attraction is spawned between the two, and they both must try to control their overwhelming desire as Vincent Valtrez, the FBI agent, has a deep secret he must keep, and the two learn of the murderer being demonic and otherworldly. Will Vincent’s deep secret reveal a dark side in him that could cause harm and possibly death to the sexy Clarissa, whom he strongly desires? Check out more about this book here at the BYS website.

And , of course, a fantastic book trailer:

Rita Herron is an award-winning author who has sold over 45 books to date. Rita writes for a living, as she used to be a kindergarten teacher, but now follows her true passion for writing spine-tingling romantic suspense. She writes for Harlequin Intrigue and HQN and has sold a paranormal romantic suspense trilogy to Grand Central Publishing. Impressive! To read more about Rita, check out her BYS bio. Rita also included some interesting tidbits just for you guys! Enjoy!

* I often get asked where I got my ideas. Well, the first line of my first chapter in Insatiable Desire, the hero thinks that the first time he beds a woman is the best. That's because he never takes a woman to bed twice.

How did I come up with that line? When my husband and I go to the beach, we're always tired and hot when we arrive and unload. Then we pop open that first beer and go down to look at the ocean. The last trip, that beer tasted so good and cold and I said, "Why is it that the first beer is always the best?"
Then I knew I had my first line -- not about beer but about sex. It totally fit my character, too.
Of course I shared that line with several writers to get their reaction. And it sparked a lot of discussion. Is the first time really the best? Maybe, because you're so excited and dying to be together. Or maybe it's too rushed and the next time is better because it's slow and tender. Or maybe it's better when he learns those g-spots so he pleases you more!

* I have an identical twin sister. People always ask which one of us was the good twin, which was the evil one?
I think we all have good and evil in us, which is part of the theme of The Demonborn. But being good is boring in a book - being evil is fun! So when I write dark, gritty romantic stories I get to be both good and bad! Now, that's fun.

So, keep the comments and any questions for Rita coming, because you could just be lucky enough to have your own signed copy of Insatiable Desire! Enjoy the suspense and intrigue, as you find your time to yourself, Between Your Sheets!

P.S.
Marla’s Question of the Blog!

What would you do if the man you loved/desired was under control by some demonic being?

Hi, Rita! How neat to be a twin--at least I always thought it might be when I was growing up ;)

As for Marla's question--yikes! Pray hard! And find help and fight! No one's taking my man easily! ;)

Hi Rita, congrats on the new release. Sounds very interesting. I love thrillers!

My answer for Marla is: find a priest fast!

Insatiable Desire sounds great! Congrats on the new release!

Is there a genre you haven't wrote in, but would like to?

Have you ever modeled a character from a friend or family member?

Hi Rita & Marla,

I'd try to find a way/spell to change the conrtol to me, lol. ;)

I'd know that I was in totally over my head and would do anything and track down anyone who could help me.

Insatiable Desire sounds intriguing! The blurb and video are wonderful.

I'm not sure I would do anything, right away anyway. It might be fun after all!

Hi Marla -
Rita's book sounds VERY INTERESTING and that's a good trailer. As to your Q: I have to agree with Flchen1 - I would pray, seek help and keep loving my man!

I loved the trailer and the book looks to be a very interesting read. If the man I desired/loved was being controlled by a demonic being I would do everything in my power to save him. I would cross to Hell and back to save him. I have always strongly believed good triumphs over evil on any given day. If I died trying to save him, I sure as heck would put up a fight until I was sent back to try again. Everyone is worth redeeming in someway no matter how evil they may be.

Insatiable Desire sounds great, will have to get.

as for the question, that depends on just how bad he gets and how satisfying he is that way, it may just make him better in some ways. NEVER LET THEM GO NO MATTER WHAT!

Wow Rita that book sounds awesome. The trailer was outstanding too!!! As for the question: Don't most men have Demons inside of them anyway? LOL. But I am not sure what I would do. I mean if possible try to eliminate the Demon without eliminating my loved one. But I know in most of the books I read like that, if you eliminate the demon it kills the man as well. I guess I would try to get the demon controlled by the man. Good question.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for stopping by and viewing the trailer. Glad you liked it. It was really fun to put together! I kept thinking of my book in a mini movie and I was psyched!

I hope you'll enjoy the book. It's really darker and edgier and sexier than my previous titles but that made it all the more fun. I could bring out that bad girl side!

I've always been intrigued with the nature vs. nurture argument - are we born bad or is it our past, family, experiences that bring that side out?
Being a twin, we often heard, "So who's the good twin and who's the bad one?" LOL.

I do think we all have different sides and what pushes out buttons may be different as well. And I'd do anything for my guy.

But strong men need strong women to put them in place and keep them from crossing the line. I hope I did that in Insatiable Desire!

The demon killer in the story has the power to touch a person, know her greatest fear, and use it to kill her.

Anyone have a greatest fear they want to share?
Or a bad girl side they want to share?

Amy,

Your question about the genres -- hmm. I actually taught kindergarten and wrote some for Sweet Valley kids in the beginning ( I know, miles from what I'm dong now.) But I love stories for all ages and genres.

I actually won an award for an unpublished book in the YA category. Though I never sold it, I now have another YA trilogy idea - paranormal - that I want to sell. We'll see what my agent says!

Also, I love southern women's fiction and would love to sell there. I did sell a short story to the Mossy Greek series by Belle Books and have some ideas and a proposal for a southern (very southern, more literary) type book. Maybe some day!
It's not the Steel Magnolias type south but the trailer trash South where I've grown up! LOl.

Amy,
Have I modeled a character after a real person?

Usually I model characters after an archetype or a combination of people I've met. Unfortunately you do have to be careful not to use someone you know. A friend of mine got sued because someone thought she had used her story life, but she hadn't, so that makes me really think twice!

But I do drawn on characteristics, traits, gestures, etc. of real people to make the characters relatable to the reader.

I just heard about the book earlier in the week and lo and behold I got a copy from my local used book store. Someone had read it that quick and traded it in at the store.
